Set quietly down a lane opposite Selby Golf Club you will find the seven buildings that comprise Mackinder Farms Holiday Accommodation.
Three of the properties are barn conversions, carefully thought out and designed in 2010/11. The main building, now made into two properties, has brick work and beams dating back to 1780 which have been incorporated to give a stunning impression as you enter the buildings. The smaller property is reputed to have been built of the stone from a barn prior to the building of the 1780 version and is cosy and welcoming. All three have en suite bathrooms and their own gardens planned to give as much privacy as possible.
The four lodges, genuine round log cabins, arrived as logs on a lorry from Estonia in 2011 and were erected on a peaceful site close to a canal. The cabins, cosy, comfortable and welcoming are well equipped and each one has its own veranda with a six seat hot tub for extra relaxation.
With environmental issues very much to the fore, fresh water is sourced from our own borehole. Ground source underfloor heating is provided using heat pumps and the cabins have grass roofs! Our solar farm generates electricity during daylight hours. Six of the properties benefit from preset, underfloor heating with the temperature normally set at 20 degrees.
